Crown Hill Park at 26th and Kipling Street

Trail Mileage Time from Denver Easy / Moderate / Extreme Dogs OK / Leash
1.2 to about 9 miles 10 minutes Easy OK / Yes

Crown Hill Park is a wonderful park just west of the Denver Metro area.  On the day we took these photos people were walking, rollerblading, biking, horseback riding, flying kites, walking dogs, fishing and enjoying the view of the lake and mountains.  The 1.2 mile trail around the lake is paved and makes an easy, short trek for families.  Lengthen your visit by checking out the various horse and unpaved trails over the 242 acres, and July 1 through February 28 take the .7 mile hiker only trail that wanders through the wildlife sanctuary.  It's a home to many species of birds and is closed in the spring during nesting season.  You may get a glimpse of the occasional fox or coyote that call the park home.   In the winter, it's a popular for cross country skiing and snowshoeing.  There are restrooms on the west side of a large parking lot that rarely fills up.  It's in an urban area, but has the feel of being farther away from the city than it actually is.
