Windy Saddle Park - Lookout Mountain Trail

Trail Mileage Time from Denver Easy / Moderate / Extreme Dogs OK / Leash
2.4 miles round-trip 20 minutes Easy to Moderate OK / Yes

This forest trail is mostly uphill 1.2 miles, with a good mixture of shade and sun.  It begins with a short, exposed side hill trail and then enters a more densely, wooded area.  Easy terrain and beautiful views of the front range make this an ideal family hike.  Take time at the top and check out the Lookout Mountain Nature Center.  It's filled with exhibits, souvenirs, and most importantly, restrooms.  Also, there are volunteers available to answer any questions about the park.  Two short, easy hikes start from the nature center, if you're up to it.  If not, enjoy the downhill return.  Expect mountain bikes and dogs, and in nice weather the parking lot can be full.  In that case, drive up to Lookout Mountain Nature Center, where there's a large parking area.  You'll have to go downhill from there, and uphill on the way back.
